YULIA QUOTE: "Stars of Tomorrow"
"It was very encouraging to
discover so many fabulous emerging singers and to be able to help them
find their voices in my singing workshop. The journey has only
just begun for the three singers I selected to appear in concert. I will
be creating a profile for each of them on the official 'Yulia & Friends' web site at www.findmyvoice.co.nz including photos, video and audio recordings. Choosing the final three singers proved to be very difficult! The Hawkes
Bay very obviously has some amazing up-and-coming young talent, which if cultivated and nurtured will reward
NZ with our stars of tomorrow."
The 3 local performers selected
by Yulia & Glyn were Leana Atkenson (16), Madison Gaiger-Grove (11)
and Clare Sullivan (12)
-Leana performed a duet with Yulia 'Don't
Cry for me Argentina' from the musical Evita
Madison performed a duet with Yulia 'Ben' a song by Michael Jackson
and Clare performed a solo of the song 'Chocolate'
All 3 singers performed solos on 'Amazing Grace' in an ensemble number
with Yulia. Then to wrap up the concert, the whole cast and string
players of Orchestrate performed the finale 'The Show Must Go On' with
Yulia
The concert has been recorded and will appear online at the
official 'Yulia & Friends' web site www.findmyvoice.co.nz
DVDs are available for $20 and CDs for $10 plus postage and packaging
via www.yulia.co.nz online shop.
..... only a couple of points
separated many of the top 10 singers.
Singers who were not selected for the concert but are worthy of a
notable mention from the workshops are:
David Lord (12) who sang a beautiful version of 'Ave Maria'
Cameron Ferrick (14) who sang a beautiful Classical/Pop arrangement of
'American Pie'
Mary Donkin (16) who sang 'Now That I've Seen' -
Hannah Wilton (12) who sang Tailor Swift's 'Love Story'
and Maia Troup (8) stood out as having the brightest personality for
stage and one to watch!
Yulia is currently nominated for "Best Nationwide Entertainment" in the Corporate Events Guide 2010 People's Choice Awards. Concert attendees can vote for Yulia via www.yulia.co.nz
